2026 Governance Committee Election: Meet the New Members

The 2026 GC election results are in. Concordium's community has chosen three new members for the Governance Committee, another milestone on the network's path towards a more decentralized governance.

The GC election results are in. Congratulations to Viktor Ihnatiuk (386,181,780 votes), Christopher Portmann (290,714,900 votes), and Jareau van den Heuvel (201,960,173 votes), the three newly elected members of the Concordium Governance Committee.

Here is a closer look at who they are.

Building Growth Through Partnerships: Viktor Ihnatiuk

Viktor Ihnatiuk joins the Governance Committee as a founder who has worked with Concordium since 2023, building one of the network's first bridges and supporting multiple projects across the ecosystem. Through his companies UTEXO and Boosty Labs, he is focused on driving Concordium's next wave of growth, including an FX strategy through UTEXO and work across other domains through Boosty Labs.

The Researcher Behind the Roadmap: Christopher Portmann

Christopher Portmann brings deep technical grounding to the Governance Committee. He worked at Concordium for over four years as a Senior Researcher, helping to develop many of the protocols and tokenomics that the network runs today, and served on the Governance Committee where he led the decentralization roadmap. Though no longer at Concordium, he stays close to the community and continues to support the project from the sidelines.

A Community-First Voice Returns: Jareau van den Heuvel

Jareau van den Heuvel is one of the community's most engaged voices, a longtime CCD holder and the admin and owner of the Dutch Concordium community. He stood again for the Governance Committee out of genuine care for the ecosystem, and this term he is focused on transparent communication, sustainable decision making, and being a pragmatic, accessible voice.

The New Governance Committee

As the new members join, three long-serving members reach the end of their tenure: Jørgen Hauglund, Michael Jackson, and Torben Pryds Pedersen. Their work helped shape the Governance Committee through its foundational phases, and we thank them for their service and contributions to Concordium.

With the newly elected members seated, the Governance Committee now has nine members, seven of them elected by the community and two appointed by the Foundation. Viktor Ihnatiuk, Christopher Portmann, and Jareau van den Heuvel join:

  • Borja Burguillos, Web3 Founder (community-elected)
  • Niels H. Sørensen, Web3 Founder (community-elected)
  • Andreas Baidas, Investor (community-elected)
  • Mikael Bondum, Staking (community-elected)
  • Peter Marirosans, Concordium Group CTO (Foundation-appointed)
  • Arvind Siva, Concordium Group COO (Foundation-appointed)

These elections are a core part of Concordium's decentralization roadmap.

What Comes Next for Concordium Governance

Together, the newly elected members strengthen a Governance Committee that sits at the center of how Concordium is run. With this election, a majority of the committee is now community-elected, and we look forward to the experience and perspective these new members bring to the term.

Congratulations once again to our winners, and a big shout out to all the candidates who ran in the 2026 election.
