The Verified by Concordium badge now covers an entire agent network. Every agent on XDC AI can carry proof that a verified person or business stands behind it, and none of that owner's personal data goes on display.
XDC Network has selected Concordium as the exclusive identity verification layer for XDC AI, its agent payments marketplace. Any agent on XDC AI can now receive an on-chain badge confirming that a verified individual or business is accountable for it, while the owner's identity stays private.
This is Concordium's first full-network integration. Until now the badge has been adopted one agent at a time, on Ethereum, Solana and other chains. XDC AI is the first network to adopt it end to end. Agent verification is live today at xdcai.tech/agent-verification, with developer documentation at docs.xdcai.tech.
The Question Payment Cannot Answer
An agent that can pay is only half of what a business needs. The other half is knowing that someone answers for it.
An agent working for a trading company orders components from a supplier and pays in USDC. The supplier sees a wallet address and a transaction. If the order is disputed, or the agent was misconfigured, or it was never authorised to place the order at all, nothing in that wallet says who is responsible. The agent can pay, but it cannot be held to account.
An agent that pays its own way can still be nobody's agent. Concordium exists to close that gap.
Why XDC Chose an Identity Layer
XDC Network is an open-source, EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain for payments, trade finance and real-world assets, aligned with the ISO 20022 messaging standard. In July 2026 it launched XDC AI, which gives an AI agent a non-custodial wallet and lets it discover services and pay for them in USDC over the x402 payment standard.
That covers payment. For accountability, XDC chose Concordium.
"Agents on XDC AI can already discover services and pay for them in USDC. What institutions need next is to know who stands behind an agent before they trust it with real money. Concordium gives every verified agent an accountable owner without putting anyone's personal data on-chain, so builders on XDC earn trust from their very first transaction," says Atul Khekade, Co-founder, XDC Network.
What Concordium Adds
The owner completes verification in minutes through the Concordium Wallet, with a passport and liveness check conducted by an independent identity provider rather than by Concordium. They then link their XDC wallet with two signatures that move no funds, and register the agent. Concordium issues a Verified by Concordium badge for the agent. There is a one-time verification fee, paid by the owner, and the owner never needs to buy CCD. Anyone can then check the badge on-chain, either in Concordium's explorer or on the Agent Registry, without asking Concordium, XDC or the owner for permission. The full flow, from wallet binding to the checks a buyer can run, is documented in How XDC AI verifies agent wallets on Concordium.
The badge confirms one thing and withholds another. Anyone can check that a verified person or business stands behind the agent. Who that person or business is stays private, and can only be disclosed through a court order and a specific legal process. The counterparty gets accountability. The owner keeps their privacy. The badge does not mean Concordium has reviewed the agent's code or approved its use case. It means accountable, not endorsed.
Nothing about the agent has to move. It keeps its XDC wallet, its code and its operations exactly where they are, and Concordium adds the identity layer underneath. That is the same model the badge already uses for agents on Ethereum and Solana, where it sits alongside ERC-8004 registrations.
Privacy With Accountability, Not Anonymity
Concordium is not an anonymity network, and it never was. Every verified agent on XDC AI is linked to a real, verified owner. That link exists. What the design guarantees is that nobody can read it casually.
No name, document number or photograph is stored on-chain. The identity record stays with the identity provider that performed the check, and the credential stays in the owner's wallet. The blockchain holds neither. A supplier on XDC AI can confirm that an agent is accountable without ever learning who owns it, and the owner never hands a document to anyone but the provider that checked it.
Disclosure follows one route only: a court order, acted on jointly by independent Privacy Guardians, each holding a share of the key. A platform cannot request it and a counterparty cannot demand it, and no single party can do it alone. Privacy is structurally protected. Accountability is structurally available. Neither cancels the other.
Built for Humans First
None of this was designed for AI agents. It was designed for people.
Since mainnet, every account on Concordium has required an identity credential issued by an independent provider before it could exist. That was the rule for human users long before AI agents became a market category. Payments followed, with Protocol-Level Tokens and sponsored transactions. The agent layer, with the Agent Registry and the Verified by Concordium badge, applies the same principle to a new kind of account holder.
AI agents on XDC AI are getting what human users on Concordium have always had: a verified identity at the protocol level, with privacy protected by design. Concordium is the only blockchain where verified humans and verified AI agents operate on the same identity layer. The chain was always built for this moment.
From One Agent to a Whole Network
The badge was built to travel. An agent registers once and carries its proof wherever it operates. What changes with XDC AI is the scale. Instead of individual builders choosing to verify, an entire agent marketplace has made Concordium its identity layer, and every agent on it can be verified the same way.
Every verified agent is tied to a Concordium account linked to its verified owner. Network fees are sponsored, so builders never need to hold CCD, the native token of Concordium. The partnership includes revenue sharing on each agent verification. Verification can be completed today, and anyone who wants to know whether an agent is accountable can check the badge before they deal with it.
An agent that can prove a verified owner stands behind it can be given real authority: to place orders, settle invoices, and act on a company's behalf with a counterparty that has never met it. That is where the agentic economy stops being a demo and starts being commerce.
XDC built the rails for agents to pay. Concordium makes sure someone answers for them. The next question is what an accountable agent should be allowed to do with that authority, and how far it should go.
