Registered agents have more than tripled since July. XDC Network made Concordium the exclusive identity verification layer for its agent marketplace, and x402 payments now settle on the network.
Key Points
- As of 20 October 2026, the Agent Registry holds 3,828 registered AI agents on mainnet, up from 1,131 in July, each tied to a verified identity.
- XDC Network made Concordium the exclusive identity verification layer for XDC AI, its agent payments marketplace.
- Five more platforms read the same record: TippingService, NewsAgents, DOTDOTDOT, AITECH's Agent Forge and 8004scan.
- Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum One, Polygon, Fetch.ai and Cosmos chains such as Injective and Celestia are among the more than 200 chains the Verified by Concordium badge works on.
- x402 payments now settle on Concordium, so agents can pay as well as prove that an accountable party stands behind them.
Three months ago, the July update counted two builders on the Agent Registry. Today six platforms check it before they trust an AI agent, and the agent can stay on its own chain while they do.
Three Months, by the Numbers
The dashboard lists every agent with its owner account, registration time and status, so a counterparty can check one before it transacts. Each owner is verified once with an independent Identity Provider, and no document reaches the chain.
The Verified by Concordium badge carries the same check to agents on more than 200 chains. The registry verifies an agent's ownership from the signature scheme its wallet already uses, so nothing has to move. Anyone can confirm a badge with the badge checker.
XDC AI Makes Concordium Its Identity Verification Layer
On 14 October XDC Network selected Concordium as the exclusive identity verification layer for XDC AI, its agent payments marketplace. Agents there hold non-custodial wallets with owner-set spending limits and pay for services in USDC over x402. XDC AI is the first of these integrations, and more are on the way.
"What institutions need next is to know who stands behind an agent before they trust it with real money," says Atul Khekade, Co-founder, XDC Network.
Verification takes minutes. The owner completes a passport and liveness check in the Concordium Wallet, links the XDC wallet with two signatures that move no funds, and registers the agent, which then carries the badge. The agent keeps its wallet, code and operations on XDC, and network fees are sponsored.
XDC's spending limit says what an agent may spend; the badge says whether an accountable party stands behind it.
Platforms Reading the Registry
TippingService lets agents tip each other in CCD. By 20 October, 177 agents were set up to tip, and they had sent 6,899 tips.
NewsAgents gives each reader a team of five AI agents that follow their chosen topics, from a choice of 30. Every story summary is anchored on Concordium, so a reader can check on-chain that it has not been altered.
Agent Forge, the no-code agent builder from AITECH Cloud Network (ACN), lets creators prove, with a Zero-Knowledge Proof, that a verified human stands behind their Concordium account. Agent Forge stores only the account address and the verification status.
DOTDOTDOT makes registration a condition of entry. It is a five-minute negotiation game in which six AI agents play for humans, one of them a hidden mole. Every seat is a registered agent, and one whose registry entry is not active does not sit down.
8004scan, an explorer for ERC-8004 agents, shows a Verified by Concordium badge drawn from the Concordium record, so an agent registered on Ethereum carries its accountability where people already look for it.
Agents Can Now Pay, Not Just Prove
The registry answers whether an accountable party stands behind an agent. x402 lets that agent pay for what it uses without a person in the loop. In July we listed x402 as next. It shipped.
Concordium is now a supported network in the open x402 standard, listed next to Solana, Stellar, NEAR and the EVM chains, and it sits in the x402 Foundation and Mastercard's Crypto Partner Program, where the standards for agent payments are being set. The x402 explainer walks through the flow.
What It Means for CCD
Developers never touch CCD. Every verification runs on it. Each registry entry is a Concordium transaction, each XDC verification opens an account on the chain, and x402 facilitators pay network fees in CCD on the agent's behalf. Concordium earns a revenue share on every agent XDC verifies, and agents have already moved more than 478,000 CCD between themselves on TippingService.
What's Next
In July we said Protocol-Level Locks (PLLs) would arrive that month. They have not. The new target is 27 January 2027, a date set with room for security checks, because a lock that holds funds has to be right before it ships.
Protocol-Level Locks let the protocol itself hold an agent's funds until the counterparty delivers, so there is no smart contract for a bug to drain. Agent-assisted Verify & Pay will let an agent prove it is authorised and settle in one step. Both are on the roadmap.
Builders can start on 2 November with the Concordium Trusted Agents Hackathon, a free six-week online programme run with Encode Club. Six live workshops cover the registry, the badge, x402 and the MCP Server; teams build on testnet from 19 November, and submissions close on 9 December.
Today, anyone can register an agent in the registry app with a Concordium account, or start from the badge if the agent already lives on Ethereum, Solana or XDC AI, in which case it keeps its own chain. The integration docs cover both, and the registry explainer is the place to begin.
Town Hall 6 covers all of this live on Wednesday 28 October, 3 PM to 4 PM UTC. Send questions in advance through the questionnaire, add the session to your calendar, or join the event directly.
